Heinz-Peter Linshalm is a clarinettist and music educator specialising in both contemporary and classical repertoire. He studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and continued his training in bass clarinet at the Bern University of the Arts. Further studies in music physiology and masterclasses with leading composers and performers have shaped his artistic profile.
He performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, appearing at festivals and concert venues across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas. As a guest musician, he collaborates with a wide range of ensembles, with a particular focus on contemporary music.
Linshalm is Senior Lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where he teaches clarinet in both German and French systems, with a particular focus on auxiliary instruments and extended playing techniques. His pedagogical work extends to international workshops and masterclasses, with a strong commitment to supporting young musicians.
He is co-founder of the duo Stump-Linshalm and a member of several ensembles dedicated to new music. His discography includes numerous recordings of contemporary works, reflecting his close collaboration with composers. Together with Petra Stump-Linshalm, he co-edits the publication CLARINET UPDATE – Neue Musik für junge Klarinettisten
